It’s a VR device.

Really interesting because it allows him to run on the spot, effectively setting him in a natural speed run cycle in place.

Notice anything interesting about the way he moves? Because he’s not actually travelling anywhere, he can’t lean forward much, so his arms pump like crazy. Standing straight like that he looks a little like an early-days 3D video game character.
What I find really interesting about this is how quickly he can come to a dead stop because his body weight obviously isn’t actually going anywhere- he doesn’t have to compensate and readjust his momentum like people running naturally have to.

This all kind of makes this video a ‘what to subtly not to do when animating a run cycle’ reference.

This is kinda hilarious because I do these all the time anyway, even the weird wrist stretching- Since like, age 12. I saw something similar in a kung fu body training manual somewhere, and I just kept it up in the boyish hope that I’d ever had to hit someone with my wrist, drunken boxing style.

One other important thing to do is eat plenty of brocoli- it’s a natural anti-inflammatory, and it’ll help keep your joints in good nick.
